Piper attended the State University of New York at Plattsburge where she earned her undergraduate degree in 1989.

She worked at Westchester County Medical Center in New York and attended Pace University where she earned her Master of Science in Nursing in 1995.

Piper is nationally certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She joined RFP in 1998.
